Heerko Dijksterhuis (Journalist)

Heerko Dijksterhuis (1953) studied Human Geography and graduated in Development Planning at the University of Amsterdam. He works currently as a freelance journalist and correspondent for Dutch media, focusing on West Africa, more particularly Ghana, since 1979. He lived ten years in the region, in Benin, Burkina Faso and Ghana.
In the Netherlands, Dijksterhuis was Head of Communications for Non-Governmental Organizations like Both Ends, Oxfam Novib and Max Havelaar Foundation. He published on development and trade issues. One publication is the Country Document on Ghana of the KIT, Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.
